"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." -- Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

The roots of Hillary's gynocentric leanings can be traced to her relationship with her mother, Dorothy, who had been abandoned by her parents and sent to live with an abusive grandmother. As Hillary revealed in her autobiography, "I thought often of my own mother's neglect and mistreatment at the hands of her parents and grandparents." Hillary's relationship with her father, Hugh, also played a role. Even though she later wrote, "I adored [my father] when I was a little girl," Hugh's household regime no doubt grated on the independent-minded girl. Hillary Rodham's arrival at the all-girls Wellesley College in 1965, two years after Betty Friedan wrote "The Feminine Mystique," marked a turning point in her ideological journey.
