 New Hampshire to conduct recount of Presidential primary
Dennis Kucinich is getting his way.New Hampshire officials said Friday they will conduct a hand recount of the state’s Democratic and Republican presidential primaries at the request of two minor candidates — Kucinich, who received less than 1.4 percent of the vote, and Republican Albert Howard of Michigan, who received about 44 votes statewide. The candidates are expected to pay a $2,000 fee to start the process, according to state officials.

The candidates are expected to pay a $2,000 fee to start the process, according to state officials.The last time New Hampshire did a statewide recount of a presidential primary was in 1980.Kucinich, a Democratic congressman from Ohio, told FOX News on Friday that he requested the recount out of concern for the integrity of the process and not out of loyalty to any one candidate. Hillary Clinton beat Barack Obama in the Democratic race by 3 points, defying polls that showed her trailing beforehand. On the Republican side, John McCain won with 37 percent.“This isn’t about me, and it’s not about Senator Clinton or Senator Obama,” Kucinich said. ”It’s about the integrity of the election process. Keep in mind that there are huge disparities between polls on the day of the election and the returns.”Kucinich insisted he’s not voicing support for Obama in making the request, even though he instructed his supporters shortly before the Iowa caucuses Jan. 3 to go with Obama as a second choice in case he was unable to attract the needed 15 percent support. Obama won Iowa.“Mr. Howard and Mr. Kucinich haves satisfied the requirements for initiating a statewide recount of the Republican and Democratic primary,” Gardner said.
