Hillary Clinton shills again for health care
Nearly 15 years after her grand plan to revolutionize American health care collapsed in ignominious defeat, a chastened Hillary Clinton will propose today a new easier-to-swallow centrist proposal that focuses on providing universal coverage and reducing skyrocketing medical costs.

"This time around she's refocused her starting point and developed policy proposals that are not from the get-go divisive and partisan," said Kenneth Thorpe, professor of health policy at Emory University in Atlanta. "Those lessons [from the 1990s] have clearly taken hold and stuck."
Clinton (D-N.Y.) is slated to unveil her new health care blueprint in Des Moines this morning.
Sources familiar with the proposal saidit is infinitely less detailed and less complex than the one she put forward in the 1990s as First Lady. The new plan will be broad enough to give her enough political room to build a coalition to support it.
"Make health care less expensive. Get everybody covered. Build on the private insurance system and provide appropriate financial assistance to the low- and moderate-income households. Those are really the key essential facts of what she's proposing," Thorpe said.
