By: Paul Jackson I'm not about to bet my RRSP on it -- which is my usual challenge -- but I very much doubt Hillary Clinton will take up residence in the White House come 2009. It's true, Clinton appears to have the grasp on the Democratic presidential nomination, but will mainstream Americans vote for her next November? Maybe Democratic voters will hold their nose and avert their eyes and cast their ballots for her, but perhaps many of them won't be able to gulp like that. Clinton's style -- harridan-like, to me -- tends to alienate people. Warmth is not in her vocabulary, if I can paraphrase Shaw TV's snail commercials. Also, there's the gender factor. In Britain, Canada or Western Europe being a woman does not matter a whit in politics.
