Clinton, according to one prominent backer, is scheduled to hold a conference call with top supporters at 4 p.m., in which they are expected to hash out how and when to concede the race to Barack Obama and figure out a way to unify the Democratic Party for the fall. Two Clinton supporters weighed in this afternoon on the continuing drama.Representative Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, who formally endorsed Obama today, argued that by letting it be known she would be open to the offer of vice president, she has effectively acknowledged him as the nominee."She understands the reality," Emanuel said on MSNBC. "She knows it." But Representative Charlie Rangel of New York, who is still awaiting cues from Clinton before officially backing Obama, called on her to formally concede, saying she could have been "far more generous" to him in saying Obama is the party's nominee. Still, he said, Clinton should be considered for vice president since it was a very close primary race where they evenly split the votes. "That's not pressure, that's common sense," Rangel said.
